Product Description

TEC1-12705 Thermoelectric Cooler Peltier Module

= Standard 40x40mm Solid-State Heat Pump for Efficient Cooling =

The TEC1-12705 is a popular thermoelectric cooler (Peltier) module that creates a temperature differential when powered by DC current, making one side hot and the other cold . With 127 semiconductor couples in a compact 40x40mm footprint, it is widely used in CPU cooling, portable refrigerators, and medical instruments .

Reliable SolidState Operation Vibrationfree, noisefree, and maintenance-free
Reversible Polarity - Switch between cooling and heating by reversing power connections
Maximum Operating Voltage: 15.4V to 15.5V
Maximum Current: 5A to 5.3A
Maximum Cooling Power: 43W to 57W depending on model variant
Maximum Temperature Difference (ΔT): 60°C to 68°C
Internal Resistance: 2.4Ω to 2.7Ω
Dimensions: 40mm x 40mm x 3.8mm (approx.)
Wire Length: 150mm to 300mm (varies by supplier)

= Key Features =

  • Solid-state operation with no moving parts for long life
  • Simple to install and operate with standard DC power supplies
  • Sealed construction for moisture protection (most variants)

== Applications ==

  1. CPU, GPU, and laser diode cooling
  2. Portable refrigerators and beverage coolers
  3. Medical instruments and laboratory equipment
  4. Temperature control for CCD cameras
Popular Peltier Model Widely available and welldocumented for DIY projects
Easy Integration - Standard 40x40mm size compatible with common heatsinks

√ Life expectancy of 200,000 hours with proper use

√ Industrial temperature range of -55°C to +83°C

= Important Operating Tips =

The hot side of the module requires a heatsink at all times to prevent thermal runaway . Without adequate heat removal, the module will overheat and may be permanently damaged .

Always mount a heatsink on the hot side before applying power
Do not exceed Imax or Vmax ratings
For moisture-sensitive applications, apply silicone sealing around the edges

= Troubleshooting =

Module heats up but doesn't cool effectively:

  • Ensure the hot side has adequate heatsinking and airflow
  • Check polarity - reversing power swaps hot/cold sides
  • Verify power supply meets the current requirement (minimum 5A)
NoteSpecifications vary between different suppliers and product variants (Standard vs. ProRange models) . Verify your specific module's datasheet for exact specifications. Do not exceed 80% of maximum ratings for longterm reliability.
